Kyocera ultra-rugged smartphones
have been selected for use by Honda Racing Corporation
while competing in the Dakar Rally 2016.

Kyocera will provide commercially available Android™ smartphones as a technical partner to Team HRC for telemetry and communication in this year's race, which takes place Jan. 3-16 and will traverse grueling environments across Argentina and Bolivia.

Kyocera smartphones will be carried by Team HRC throughout the race, allowing the team to monitor the status of the motorbikes and send data - including performance and log information- to the team's crew of mechanical experts. The famous Dakar Rally originated in 1979 and is a long-distance rally raid that covers various off-road environments including deserts, jungles and mountainous areas. In January 2016, top drivers and riders will leave Buenos Aires, Argentina north through Bolivia and back down to the finish line in Rosario, Argentina.
